Surrey Police Service (SPS) has released the 2024 Report to the Community. This report provides a summary of the extensive work and accomplishments of Surrey’s new police service, which became the police of jurisdiction for the diverse and growing City of Surrey in November of 2024.

The report provides a progress update on the continuing policing transition as well as the growth and expansion of SPS. Statistics on calls for service, hiring and staffing, and crime for 2024 are included, as well as key accomplishments and community priorities.

“Becoming Surrey’s police of jurisdiction represents a culmination of the tremendous work and effort of SPS staff and our community partners, much of which is reflected in our 2024 Report to the Community,” said Chief Constable Norm Lipinski. “We also continue to plan for the future in alignment with the eight priorities that were identified during last year’s community consultation with residents and key community stakeholders.”

The report also includes a financial summary of SPS’s operational and capital spending. This summary continues the transparent spending practices of SPS, which is an integral responsibility of the Surrey Police Board.

“The Board is now responsible for overseeing SPS as police of jurisdiction in Surrey. We recognize the significance of our role in understanding community priorities for policing and law enforcement, establishing a budget for adequate and effective policing, and monitoring the SPS budget and overall performance,” said Harley Chappell, Chair of the Surrey Police Board. “As a Board, we are committed to transparency in decisions that impact the work of SPS and the public interest we serve.”
