Charges Laid in Whalley Shooting

Criminal Code charges have now been approved against a man alleged to have connection with a shooting incident that occurred on the afternoon of October 6, 2025, in Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood.
At approximately 3:13 pm on October 6, 2025, Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of the Gateway Skytrain Station and the intersection of 108 Avenue and King George Boulevard after which the alleged suspect went to the Surrey Police Service District 1 Community Police Office where more shots were fired. Jose Digno Rodriguez Centeno, a 34-year-old male, has now been charged with one count each of:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to Section 91 (1) of the Criminal Code
- Pointing a firearm contrary to Section 87 (1) of the Criminal Code
- Reckless discharge of a firearm contrary to Section 244.2 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code
- Assault a police officer contrary to Section 270 of the Criminal Code
- Resist or willfully obstruct a police officer contrary to Section 129 (a) of the Criminal Code
Jose Digno Rodriguez Centeno has been remanded in custody and his next scheduled court appearance is on October 10, 2025.
