Four people, including an RCMP officer, were taken to hospital for examination and treatment of minor injuries following a collision between an RCMP vehicle and an SUV shortly before 8:30 pm on July 20, 2025, that shut down the intersection of 176 Street and 64 Avenue for several hours overnight. 

At approximately 8:22 pm on July 20, 2025, RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) officers were responding to an emergency call when an RCMP police vehicle, being driven by lone RCMP officer, was struck by an SUV in the intersection of 176 Street and 64 Avenue. The occupants of the SUV, two adults and a small child, were taken to hospital by BCEHS and examined by medical staff and it was determined that they had no injuries. The RCMP officer was taken to hospital, examined, and later released with minor injuries. 

SPOSU’s Major Crime MVI Unit has taken over the investigation and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was called in to assist. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
