As the City of Surrey works toward the creation of a city police department, Mayor Doug McCallum appointed the members of the Interim Police Transition Advisory Committee at last night’s Regular Council Meeting.
The City of Surrey has concluded its public engagement process for the planned transition to a Surrey Police Department. Over a five-week period, 23 public engagement events were held across Surrey’s six town centres.
The full Surrey Policing Transition Report is now publicly available.
The Surrey Policing Transition Report is completed and has been delivered to the provincial government for review and approval.
In his first State of the City Address since returning to the Mayor’s Office on Nov. 5, Doug McCallum used the occasion to highlight his commitment to ensuring the promises he made to the voters of Surrey are kept.
Just as Surrey has evolved and city infrastructure has grown with it, Mayor and Council are taking steps to advance how policing will be delivered in this city with the creation of a Surrey Police Department.

Mayor Doug McCallum and the new members of Surrey City Council officially took the Oath of Office at an inauguration ceremony held this evening at City Hall.
